How to Change a life

In my opinion the best things in this world are free. Yes, free and free in deed. We do not have to charge anything for the best things in this world. I was sharing my life story during a bible study session with some of the children, 11 years plus, of a local Primary school in the Mt Druitt area in Australia. Some of the children were Samoan's (from the Samoa and Tonga Islands) and Kooris (Aborigine Australians) amongst others.

While the children had never meet a person from Kenya before, they were very interested in knowing not only how many languages I was able to seek but also whether God is able to answer peoples prayers in the various languages. It was a great joy and fulfillment to see the glow in their eyes when I told them that God does hear all our prayers regardless of which languages we speak to him in. While the children come from various backgrounds with a varying degree in poverty, the school captain, who is about 11 or 12 years of age asked me whether there are poor people in my country. I did not have to think much about the level of poverty of my country, after all I have lived there, but the question behind the question was……. "Is it possible for me to get out of poverty"?

I shared with him my story, but more so the fact that if he put in all the effort he could in school and asked God to help him, he would one day break the cycle of poverty in his generation. This was enough for him, for he smiled when I said this, for when he asking the question, there was no smile. With a generation of aboriginal children who have grown up knowing that the farthest they can go in their education is until grade 12, and uni (slang for University in Australia) is far from their reach, this was a voice of hope. I was delighted to share with the rest of the children how special they were.

Giving hope and building children's future can change lives and this can be given free of charge. Take the time to talk to some of the children who are feeling hopeless and have given up and build their hope for tomorrow. After all the best things in life are free and hope is truly free. So give it and give it gladly. Are you willing to change a life?
