Today would not be a better time of the year than it is. The last Sunday before my mission trip to Australia. Ever wondered what the great commission is? In the Book of Mark Chapter 16 Vs 15 Jesus commanded his disciples to go to all the world and preach the good news. The good news that we have been reconciled with Christ and everyone who walks on this planet has a chance to be reconciled with Him regardless of how bad he/she this his/her past is like. This is my task in my walk as a christian and also for the next two plus weeks until July 4Th 2009.
As I count the hours to the beginning of this trip, I heard about some misconceptions from some quarters that may not have understood what a mission trip is all about:
- Some people do not understand that going on a mission and a vacation are two different things.
- One cannot go on a mission without the help of others.
- No donation towards the mission trip is ever too small.
- You need the support of your home church and their commission too.
- Different people give differently, some give money, prayer time or donations-in-kind.
While the joy of going to Australia continues to increase, I try and imagine how the entire trip is going to be. There will be definitely wonders, peoples hearts will be changed, new friendships will be formed and new relationships will also be started.
However the most important of all, is the chance to allow God to work through me and the other members on the team. What a great opportunity to be able to exercise what God has done in my life so far and being able to share that with others and allowing him to shape me, mold me and fill me; though the great commission.
How are you allowing God to use you? Did you know that it is never to late?
